Prep 7 Titanic Museum Trip

Prep 7 Titanic Museum Trip

On Thursday 26 May Prep Seven pupils visited the Titanic Museum, Belfast to participate in a workshop entitled Get the Message.  Pupils explored and experimented with different methods of communication, including those used on Titanic herself. Taking place on-board SS Nomadic, pupils tried their hand at signal flags, semaphore and morse code.  These activities linked with our past and current WAU topics.   A tour of the Titanic Museum galleries was included in this trip.

Prep 7 Pupils STEM Challenge

Prep 7 Pupils STEM Challenge

Prep 7 pupils have been completing  science challenges.  Their first mission was to build a desk fan, activated when the temperature reached a certain level.  The lesson was a great success and we’ve been cool ever since!!

Our second challenge was to design and build a battery operated car.  The motor had to be placed in the gear box which spun the axle.  The cars were rear wheel drive.  One group produced a particularly fast model!  There are budding electrical engineers in Prep 7.

Prep 7 mentors

All Prep 7 children have the opportunity to apply to be a mentor. This year all of our class applied. We received our badges in assembly this week and we wear them proudly on our ties. At break times and lunch times we help the younger children in the playground. We play with them and look after them if they hurt themselves or are feeling lonely. As a treat for all our hard work we go on mentor trips to places like McDonalds and the cinema.
