There are two Public Speaking and Debating Societies at Regent House School - one for Junior School and one for Senior School.

The main aim of these extra-curricular societies is to enhance your confidence while speaking in front of others. In addition to that, it is hoped that you will improve your research capabilities and increase your knowledge of current affairs.

Regular debates are organised throughout the academic year. In addition to this, you are invited to participate in external events and competitions.

Recently the school has been very successfully represented by pupils at events run by The British Council at Parliament Buildings, Queen’s University Belfast, Soroptomist International and The Rotary Club. Pupils have participated in both regional and national events.

Debates this year have concentrated on Brexit and its implications for everyone as well as societal issues relating to Northern Ireland such as gay marriage and abortion legislation.

You don't need to have previous experience of debating or public speaking to take part and everyone is welcome.

Please speak to Mrs Hutton for further information.
